I heard on the radio this morning that Professor Dunbar has done some work on facebook to work out that it doesn’t matter how many friends you have, the maximum number that you can handle is 150! The others just make up numbers!

This got me to think that actually there is probably a limit to all of your friends, including family, that you can handle efficiently, and it is not 150 on facebook, but 150 in total. This idea is not new, as Professor Dunbar has done this sort of research before – Wikipedia has an article HERE!

Some people may move off the list and be replaced by others, but in the main there is a limit to the number of people that you can manage! And the list does not include people you know, including extended family, it’s just the people that you interact with regularly (so I would exclude everyone on my Christmas card list).

Mmmmm, I might have to go count them!
