About Me
I was born and bred in North Devon and I know just how lucky I am to have grown up in such a beautiful area as I have travelled the world for 24 years and the coming home was always special.
I left school and joined Canadian Pacific Ships as a cadet. I qualified as a Marine engineer and sailed with them for 2 years before the mid-late 80′s recession meant I was made redundant. I worked ashore briefly at Pall Ilfracombe but went back to sea with Maersk Ltd. I worked for Mearsk for around 17 years in 2 separate stints interluded by a stint at Columbia Ship Management. I attained my Chief Engineers ticket but attained the rank of 2nd Engineer. One thing the Merchant Navy as left me with is loads of stories and anecdotes which I hope to share on here.
During this period I married Sue and had 2 children, Aaron and Abigail. It was 10 years before I had a Christmas with them and missed most of their younger years. It was due to this and my enjoyment of working away waning that I came ashore and took on a franchise supplying office products and printer consumables to businesses. I left them after 6 years due them and not me being investigated by the Companies Investigation Branch. I though have had to abide by a 12 month non competition clause which ends in July.
My wife though set up her own business South West Office Supplies which can be found at www.swofficesupplies.co.uk and on EBay.
I will be rejoining her in July. I have been in limbo during this period doing some emergency/holiday cover delivery work and designing the odd facebook page.
In our spare time we love to take our Jack Russell for walks around the area. Were spoilt for choice really but Exmoor is one of our favourites and now that we have a motorhome it gives us the freedom to get out and not worry about places that takes dogs.
I love most sports and a mad Argyle fan which at the moment is a bit unfortunate. I enjoy using all forms of Social Media and I am on Facebook,Twitter as @lancericeand LinkedIn. I almost forgot I am also on Ecademy
