It appears that it gets earlier and earlier – the Christmas advertising and displays in the shops. It’s as if after the summer holidays there is nothing else for these stores to advertise for and so let’s start advertising Christmas now!
I know, it’s a bit late to get on this bandwagon, I saw the first Christmas cards on sale in August, and the steady stream of displays in shops and garden centres seem to have been under-way for at least a month, if not more!
Why has it got to be a blog today, well I went shopping today, and it was as if it was everywhere, and then catching up with the local newspaper there are plenty of adverts for Christmas lunches and other things. I know it will get worse as the weeks go on, but I for one will be ignoring it.
I have a few family birthdays in early December and so Christmas thought processes do not really kick in until they are behind me and out of the way. For some, the advertising of Christmas is a sign of good things to come, but for others it is a tough time, but still we have to endure 5 months worth of advertising.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a bah humbug when it comes to Christmas, but whatever happened to just 12 days of Christmas !
When do you think is the right time to start promoting the festive season?
